The Sunrisers Hyderabad have been one of the consistent teams over the last few years. They have consistently made it to the playoffs in the last four years including winning the championship in 2016. David Warner and Tom Moody in the leadership group was a great combination for the Sunrisers as they developed a very good Team culture around the squad. This year however, Trevor Bayliss has replaced Tom Moody as the head coach. Trevor Bayliss has had a great record over the years as coach and SRH will be hoping that he can bring their second title.
David Warner has been a run machine for the Sunrisers Hyderabad. Since he has taken over the captaincy in 2015, he has won the purple cap 3 times in 4 seasons that he has played. He has scored over 600 runs in the last seasons years that he has played.
Apart from Warner, Kane Williamson and Bairstow have been brilliant for the Sunrisers. Overall, Having the likes of Warner, Bairstow, Williamson and Manish Pandey at the top of the order makes it very solid and this top order is their biggest strength.
The biggest weakness for SRH is their middle and lower middle order. They lack the presence of an experienced finisher which was also a big problem last year.
Their bowling attack is built around Indian pacers who started of very well but have tapered off in recent times. Bhuvneshwar Kumar who is expected to lead the bowling attack has also had injury problems in the last year or so and has not had much cricket under his belt.
David Warner who is their best batsman along with Rashid Khan who is one of the best T20 spinners will walk into the playing XI. Apart from this, it will be a tough decision for SRH to either go with Bairstow and Williamson as the other two overseas players or to play only one of them and play the likes of Mohammad Nabi or Mitch Marsh or Fabien Allen who can give overs with the ball and also play in the middle order which is an area of concern.
They also have got some very interesting young talent like Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Ahmad, Priyam Garg and Virat Singh who are very promising youngsters.
SRH Probable XI to start the tournament : 1) David Warner (c), 2) Jonny Bairstow (wk), 3) Kane Williamson, 4) Manish Pandey, 5) Vijay Shankar, 6) Abhishek Sharma, 7) Rashid Khan, 8) Bhuvneshwar Kumar, 9) Shahbaz Nadeem, 10) Khaleel Ahmad, 11) Siddharth Kaul
SRH will need their top order to fire and will need Bhuvneshwar Kumar in form which will make them strong contenders.
